The fact sheet has been developed to support health professionals’ understanding and use of the patient information materials. The fact sheet explains what patient information materials are, why they were introduced, how they can be used to help patients know more about the devices that are recommended or have received as part of their treatment and who is responsible for providing these materials to patients.
The fact sheet was developed by TGA in collaboration with ACSQHC, state and territory health departments and with feedback from multiple stakeholders including the AMA, AHPRA, medical device clinical groups, medical device industry bodies and the medical devices consumer working group.
